Lewisham Churches for Asylum Seekers

Working locally to help and campaign for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers living in our community.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham

AFRIL works to relieve the poverty of local refugees and asylum-seekers, advance their education and educate the general public of their rights and needs.

Would you like to become a volunteer?

Action for refugees in Lewisham is a place where volunteering is exciting, vibrant and diverse and where everyone feels that they can make a difference.“

Volunteering is about being part of a community, being a good neighbour, being involved in giving and receiving. You can make a difference, whether it’s at one off events or on a regular basis.

Volunteering can give you many benefits:

· Use your free time in an enjoyable and positive way

· Share your interests, knowledge and experience

· Explore career options or a career change

· Learn new skills, and gain valuable experience for work or further education

· Get involved in your community, and gain a sense of achievement

· Meet new people, and gain references for future jobs

What can you do?

There is a vast range of volunteering available now;! We  need classroom assistants both in our English and supplementary school for the children and their families on Saturdays.

You might want to do administration, finance or join our management committee.

Make sure that it is something that you enjoy doing.

I work full time, can I do voluntary work?

Volunteers are needed at different times of day, or at weekends. Some work can even be done from home.

Please contact us, we are more than happy to discuss.

Refreshment and travel expenses will be provided
